Sam Brown

Sam Brown, son to Chris and Cecelia Brown, owners and operators of Chris Brown Cutting, LLC in Santa Rosa, CA, was raised in the cutting horse business and his parents knew from an early age that Sam was a born horseman. Sam learned about horses and the cutting discipline from both his mom and Dad who were active cutting horse trainers, as well as showman. Sam has a quiet way with horses, understanding that each horse has unique strengths and challenges when it comes to interacting with the human world and he capitalizes on those strengths and minimizes the challenges.

Sam is the Ranch Manager at Happy Creek Ranch located in Northern Central NV and manages the operation of ??? # of cows.

Kathleen Brown

Kathleen was riding horses and working with her Dad on a small family owned ranch in Northern/Central California from a very young age. She grew up working cows on the ranch, learning horse behavior and horsemanship from her Dad, her Uncle and other trainers in the area.

Kathleen cultivates a deep connection with the horses she rides and trains and meets them where they are on their journey. She rides at full speed or a quiet walk and is always connected with the horse under her. She participated in high school rodeo, roping and barrel racing and won enough buckles to fill a cabinet. Kathleen works with Sam at Happy Creek.

Sam and Kathleen are both talented horse trainers, working with each horses’ individual personalities and building on their strengths. The horses that Sam & Kathleen train are exposed to all aspects of ranch work including gathering, doctoring, roping, cutting, sorting, branding and often just standing around waiting for the next job. They work in all different kinds of terrain and weather for long hours. The horses that Sam & Kathleen turn out are solid in all areas of ranch work and for those that show a particular fondness for one discipline or another are trained for excellence in that discipline.

Robie Willow Ranch, LLC is lucky to have both Sam and Kathleen partnering with us to identify and train very special horses. Our goal is to develop horses that will excel in the human world, portray their God given strengths and make superior partners to their people.
